The following is a bit of a departure from the buildings and structures I normally have on this site but I thought it would be of interest to visitors.  Hope M. of Perceptionphotography sent me these photos (taken in August of 2007) from Leraysville, a village swallowed up between 1939 to 1941 by the expansion of Fort Drum.  For more info see here.  The location can only be accessed by civilians during Memorial Day each year.

*Donald D. writes: "Growing up in Felts mills I attended school there from Kindergarten until they closed the school. My 6th year of school was in Great Bend.  There were Four class rooms in the Felts Mills School.  Kindergarten had its own room,1ST and 2nd were together on the first floor.  Also, there was the restrooms which were located there too.  The second floor class rooms were, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th together along, with a music room and the Principal's office.  The basement held the gym and boiler room/maintenance room."

I thought that this was a very unique old building so I also took a picture of it, after Hope M. sent me the previous photo.  The Fall foliage in this shot is particularly striking.

Felts Mills School, Rutland District 7. The school itself was closed in the 1970's.  It had a total of four rooms, plus utility rooms and a gym in the cellar.  Some more info can be found on Lynn Thornton's site at this site.
